[IMG]Thinking out of the box
Hey.
So, i started thinking the other day, how to do something different when it comes to textures.
There is a lot of variation but i wanted something a little different.
Just to point this out, i would never have started this if it wasnt for the great feedback i have recieved on my work, well, it wasnt all good on my last set, but everyone cannot like everything.
Also, when someone said that my latest set was a lot of brush spamming, well that played a part in the making of this set aswell, and i will probably never, do something like this again :P
How the set was made :
It started out with about 18 sheets of a4 paper and a 0,5mm pencil (the thing u feed lead into :P)
Countless hours of sketching (yes, everything in the set is hand-drawn, analog style :P)
First i tried scanning the drawings, but turned out that my digi-cam set to macro offered far better results
So, here it is, a one of a kind pencil set, no editing beyond resizing, cutting and fitting of the drawings.
Head :
The Rest :

a specific style means fawk all...
a good artist can work with whatever medium and in whatever style he wants

look at the set hanz0 made for cindermomo, its the first one that comes to mind, its NO WERE near "his style"

pay attention to what he said in the first post, "this wont be done again"

anyway
u can see the pencil in the trails and hands especially
head is also slightly photoshopped, the mirroring the head is a bit too obvious for my liking, the white line in the middle gives it away
drawing textures in pencil has been done befor, but its always been redrawn in photoshop.

and ya, youd probably not be advised to draw another set in pencil again, template ftw =P

nicely done from me

dont touch this set again, unless your redoing it on the pc...

BenD cinder's set is a collab of different artist... AND AGAIN i have to say this guy is TWENTY EIGHT years old, he has had atleast 10 - 15 years experience.
but on topic, monochrome isnt my style and the head looks strange compared to the rest of the set. And the feet are so stretched out i cant see anything.

Everything but the head and hands was made by me.

Back on topic, it's very nice. I especially like the leg designs. Would you happen to be interested in joining the Toribash Texture Mob? A list of the "perks" we get can be found here.

I like the pencil look, but it's just way too cluttered to see it

When i saw it, i thought it was an uncolored outline, or a set that was made grayscale

I think your first set, the prototype-x17 or something like that, the blue white one, i like that the best as it flowed well

you said it took countless hours of sketching. then if you add the trouble of scanning and resizing, i think it just isn't worth the effect if you compare it to the previous two sets you made. But since this was probably just more to try a concept, it's not too bad.

I think if you color this set, it would look a lot less cluttered since the colors could help separate the objects.

Also, i know that there is a pencil filter plug-in in GIMP so i'm pretty sure there are several in photoshop or whatever program you use.
