Just think about it. Camera positioning is too bad to get closer to the ground and see how that exactly looks.
I think you was "near" the land, too close. But just got lucky enought and saved. Macontacts could be, but i don't think they were even possible. Because you did not have any collision with floor.
Actually i don't know, i am not an expert in Toribash mechanics and other stuff.

yeah, you hadn't touched the ground yet when the other player had. if you were a tiny bit lower it probably would have ended in a draw
