You can't honestly tell me that they've made an important contribution to music as a whole. I suppose you could call me a "Music Utilitarian".

Who are you to say that they didn't bring anything to the table? They got a record deal, didn't they? They are highly famous is the metal scene, aren't they? They have a large fan base and a large amount of record sales, don't they?

You just say that because you don't like them. A Slipknot fan would have a different say, and so would I.

It really doesn't matter. You still said that you need to bash bad music. With that attitude, you deserve to have your music bashed. You're music is considered bad by many, so don't think that you're immune to being bashed, either. There is no existence of a bad genre, anways. A band is only bad if they have no fans or album sales, and if they have those two, then someone likes them, someone is buying their albums because they like their music. I remember when I and others bashed Death Metal, but it was stupid and I regret it. It's wrong to bash ANY type of music genre. It's just wrong.

Sales aside, they have nothing. Come now, humor me and tell me what they've done that's beneficial to music overall.

Secondly, you're point about bashing music is just false! It is far worse to say that all music is good, as this is a stupid and politically correct statement. Face the damn facts, Drummer. Some music is bad, and, being bad, why is it such a primal sin to state why that is the case? If someone is willing to defend that music, then by all means, do so. Just don't you dare lecture me on morals, here. That's ridiculous. In addition, your point that "a band is only bad if they have no fans or albums sales" is possibly the stupidest statement I've heard in a long time. Ever heard of the Velvet Underground? Perhaps now you have. They are now widely regarded as one of the most influential bands of all time, but this was not always the case. Back in the 60's and early 70's they were disliked by critics, sold nearly no albums, and had no fan base. We appreciate their music now because we are smart. Their music hasn't changed since then, so why are they known to be so great? I can tell you that it's not because of album sales, Drummer! Even today, so many indie acts exist that are so fantastic, and yet have no fanbase. Congrats on a really ignorant comment.

EDIT: It's "Your" not "You're" and it's "Others and I" not "I and Others"

Who is saying that not bashing it makes the music genre good? It's just fucking pointless to bash a music genre. Nobody likes to have their musical tastes bashed. I know you wouldn't like someone bashing every band in your music range, so why do it back? It's music for God's sake. If you like it, you buy the album. If you don't, fucking walk away without being a bitch about it, somebody else will buy it. I mean, you may think that genre is bad, but someone else out there loves it to death. I guess you think that if it's bad in your eyes, or ears, it's bad for everyone and the music industry.

^ Congratulations on YOUR ignorant statement...my dad even called you ignorant as he saw what you read.

As you say, "Bashing" certain music, that is, questioning the quality of the aforementioned music is important because, in addition to serving as a conduit for the exercising of free speech and stimulating discussion, it challenges the "Fan" to see a different opinion. However, this challenge of one's opinions can't occur if one merely states that the music in question is "bad". By providing evidence to back that statement up, this goal can be achieved. As for me, I would very much like you to "bash" all of my music, so long as you backed up your opinions with real evidence. This would allow me to see a different opinion and possibly make me change my mind.

In summation: If you believe that "bashing" music is an act of blatant statement of a negative opinion without evidence, then you are right in saying that this is wrong. However, since you have stated that I "bash" music, this cannot be the case, as I always provide evidence to back up my opinions when and if they're negative.

Right... and I'm ignorant...

Please leave the back handed comments elsewhere. I couldn't give two cents about what your father believes. Hello there, sir. You're son is not very smart. Good day.

I know better than to bash music genres. I have much better things to do than that.

Why would I even, in the first place, want to change someone's musical likeness for a genre? Wouldn't that be a dick move to even try? See, Spore, that wouldn't make any good sense at all.

You didn't even understand what I meant when I said "A band is only bad if they have no fans or record sales". You hardly do, anyways. Hardly.

Oh yeah...you only consider me "not smart" because we have totally different musical opinions. Nice. I guess that gives me every right to say the same about you.

That's not for you to decide. I am merely using this forum to its fullest extent as it applies to me. I am here to show people my views, and to possibly change theirs. That's just me. You can have a problem with that, but it won't matter.

I don't mind at all about sharing your views, but trying to possibly change theirs is completely stupid. If they like it, they like it. If they're insecure about it, then they'll change either way. But that's you, and I have always respected that.

That's all for me. This argument has grown tiresome. We'll never really agree, anyways.
