I don't know Bloc Party that well, but after hearing one of their songs in the popular movie "Yes Man", I soon started loving their music. Deep, strong and amazing, they always impress. Here is one of their music videos and their lyrics:

If you like Bloc party you might also like 60's garagerock and 70's garagerevival bands such as:
The Sonics, The Monks, The Ripoffs, Teengenerate, Zero Boys etc...
Wonderful melodies and rhythms while not being too complex.
Im not a huge fan of Bloc party but theyre pretty good.
If I find their first album dirt cheap I would buy it.
EDIT: oh god that Helicopter song sounds like Danko Jones.

They're awesome. Banquet, Plans, and Helicopter would be their best in my opinion.
