Ok, here's a simple yet hopefully quite versatile mod: a grid platform. You can start below it (and hang on it while fighting), on top of it (watch your step!) or in between (in the holes; push up above or drop down to hang below). Ready values for engagedistance and engageheight to do this can be found in the comments.
