Last I checked, U.S. drastically under spends the established amount it has promised to provide in foreign aid as a developed nation. Just consider this part of the debt being repaid.
Name a single benefit of aiding Haiti in the wake of a natural (not a political, or social, or military) disaster. One that isn't "oh, teh other civilized cuntries wil liek us moar if we help".
I love the "Give me one good reason.... you know, except that extremely good reason" mentality.
And it isn't so much "like us more", more-so it is "not completely hate us"; in regards to providing foreign aid in general that doesn't *directly* benefit us.
