Oh i think they had blocked all information on events like Tienanmen Square etc. And did their utmost to restrict the access of Chinese citizens to 'evil capitalist culture' blabla.

well the goverment IS in complete control... they are a dictatorshiplike communist regime. The people have almost no say in anything except what factory they work at... anyway. China says that they might just ban google *banhammer drops* and then not have to worry about their people searching things like "free labor" and "capitalism" and "bathroom breaks during job hours" and get information from other places.

Two angles; google isnt getting the market share they wanted to they QQd back to hong kong or,
Google is pro human-rights.

It's an OK move but it doesnt really change anything because internet filters are extremely easy to get around anonymously.

inb4 you realise that all internet speed will be reduced by 10%, at the least (40% was the worst), so even if you avoid the filter you still have to deal with that. Which makes Aus's already mediocre internet far below standard.
