Before you all go "hurp durp, it's Odlov with another anti-religious thread" let me just say that I am well aware that most muslims can and do take criticism perfectly fine. However, that does little to remedy the fact that there are insecure radical prunes among them who can't so much as handle a joke. It's those people this thread is about - so try to avoid sweeping generalizations or risk infraction.
Here are 3 videos. First is brief outline of the situation, second is more in-depth, and third is a recent interview with Matt and Trey themselves.
My stance on the issue is pretty clear....I don't think ANYTHING in the universe should be above criticism and/or parody. These nutjobs justify their threats with "freedom of speech", when it's exactly freedom of speech they are trying to prevent. If anything happens to Matt and Trey, major shit will hit the fan. I just hope western media will stop taking it up the rear end to comply with people like these.
I say, fuck those extremists. Its no big deal, they have bigger things to worry about than that American comedy that makes fun of everything. They need to just go pray.
But yeah, some people just learn to take a joke, and before you go all "omg inb4hypocrite" I think alot of us need to, and i think in some cases south park should take it easy to, alot of their jokes DO go a bit over.
While I'm against religion in general, a religion that commands it's followers to terrorize others is extra wrong.
I'm not sure that Islam commands it's followers to 'terrorize' others. It preaches many of the same things as Christianity, but it's the extremist leaders who are the ones that command people to blow things up etc.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there are versions of the Qur’an that preach that, it's been a subject that the earlier mentioned Geert Wilders likes to use in his favor.
But, like explained by that muslim man in the last video, it doesn't at all have to mean blowing things up, or killing anyone for that matter.

Totally wrong mate. I'm a muslim, so I know that.
Look at the news headlines, most of the time you see "Muslim terrorists" on them.
Don't tell me that there are no christian terrorists. Also, terrorism is against our religion, so yeah. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing over christians.
Anyways, I don't know what the heck is with those people whining over a joke.
Four words, those are retarded guys.

Lol'd hard on this one. Muslim religon never supported terrorists. It's just, that terrorists cover their actions with the name of religion. Still i agree with Odlov in his point. Nothing is above criticism, and nothing shall be above. But there should be borders that tell us what is parody and what is insult

Nah dude, that's like saying every muslim is a terrorist which is the exact opposite of the truth. The people who threatened the south park creators were extremist you could say. I couldn't give 10 shits if south park made fun of my religion because I'm not too religious in the first place. Islam religion teaches followers to have peace (in their case) . These "extremists" though peace would be achieved through violence and threats, etc.
