school uniforms
why must student like myself be told what we can and can not wear?
why must our freedom of choosing our own clothing be stripped from us (pun intended)

uniforms appear to be pointless
the reasons they use to argue the use of uniforms are not sufficent in my eyes.

discuss, what do you think? do you see reason in them?

note, if yo do give your opinion please state if you go to school or not, and if you wear a uniform.
I type as I speak, with several commas and run on sentences, dont be hatin'.
it depends, really !

In japan..its awesome

On a more serious note, school uniforms make everyone an equal member of school society ( in theory ).
You cant seperate the poor from the rich just be their clothes, which is a good thing in my opinion.
Not really sure why people are against it, i'd loved to wear a uniform rather than what i got to wear back when i was in school :/

Those girls are Korean.

Some issues to consider;

Bullying based on what people wear.
- Some people can't afford a wide variety of clothes
- Some people can't afford "good" clothes

Individuality
- School Uniforms promote a sense of it without standing out (i.e. "Hurrdurr Im an individual because I wear black!")
->I.e. real individuality i.e. not "I'm a teenager, so I'm going to join a pseudo-cult in order to stand out". Then you got to a metal/Manson concert and see 9000 "individuals".

Order/Real life
- When you enter the "real world" as it is often called, many occupations require you to dress formally. School uniform is decent practise for it, I guess
- Promotes a sense of order
- All social institutions have a form of dress. eg. Dero Metal heads all wear band t-shirts from tours 14 years ago in public. School is simply another.

Asian girls ftw

But yeah, I've never had a liking for uniforms or dress codes. You should be able to express who you are at the one place where making an impression matters. Being a whore about it merely applies to who you are :|

In school? School is a place for learning, not for fashion. If a school deems it apropos for a dress code to be enforced (much like professional workplaces), then they are fine to do so.
Admittedly though, the dress code on socks at my school is a bit excessive.

So hot.

Anyway.

Lol reason I got expelled from my old school was due to uniform, they wanted me to cut my hair when there was only 3 weeks left of school for me to graduate, so yeah, I was like kthxbai, Moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania ever since, been living great. Uniforms and dress codes are stupid, it doesn't fucking matter what you wear only what in your god damn brain. Nuff said.
Breaking rules is bad

I have uniforms in my school, but I don't mind.
Gives us a reason not to have to pick clothes everyday.
It has to do with kids being jealous of other clothes or something like that.
I think that's why.
