I dont receive +rep or -rep in some, how is this possible?

No i mean, how can you rep without actually approving or disapproving.

IMO I think that the Rep system is getting out of hand, I got - Rep for typing with purple text and for double posting in wibbles and I got + Rep for having a "sexy avatar".

I think that the box is grey if the person has no rep themselves, or has -rep.

You give or take more rep based on how much rep you have, like Trials said, if someone with no rep or negative rep, tries to +rep you or -rep you, it will show up but it won't actualy take or give any rep, hence the grey boxes.

Well then..

I'm sure when the rep system was re-released, nobody had any rep. How did anyone get +rep if nobody had any to give?

when it was re-released the old rep carried over. There's probably some kind of system that makes sense, but I don't know every detail.
