Protecting your PC
Need some good virus scanners, encryption, etc.

Encryption -> Truecrypt, Twofish




I used to have an awesome list, but I lost it :3
So if you know any kind of tool that can help keep you protect your computer, post it.


EDIT: I would also really like a free steganography program, if anyone knows of one.

KGB Archiver - Extremely powerful compressor, current best compressor. - Free
Universal Extractor - Can automatically detect most compression algorithms, and easily extract. - Free
7-zip - Cross platform and readily used (more powerful than winrar). - Free
winrar - The most common/standard Windows compression. - Free


Misc Tools: - Stuff that doesn't fit in elsewhere
File Cutter - Allows you to cut a file in to smaller parts (useful when using websites with max file upload, and such). - Free
Gmail Drive - Allows you to use your Gmail account as a virtual harddrive for remote storage. - Free
Revo uninstaller - An easier and faster way to uninstall programs on Windows.


File Recovery: - Programs that allow you to recover lost data
Recuva - Recovers deleted files.


Antivirus: - Used to protect, detect and remove all kinds of viruses

Cleaning: - Used to delete temporary/personal data that can slow a computer down over time
Ccleaner - Recommended - Free

Firewalls: - Prevent other machines from sending malicious data to your computer
Comodo - Recommended - Free
Zonealarm - Free
PC Tools Firewall Plus - Free
kerio personal firewall
peerblocker - Lets you explicitly control which machines your computer can communicate with on the internet (advanced)

Encryption: - Encode a file or folder so that it can only be accessed by you
Truecrypt - Free
Twofish - Recommended, currently unbreakable - Free
Toucan - Free


Virtualisation: - Runs programs in virtual environments, so they cannot harm your computer
Sand Boxie - Very easy to use, highly recommended - Free


Steganography: - Hides data within an image file, these are practically impossible to crack

why do you need encryption software, you ezpexting someone to look though your stuff
I also use a firewall, and a proxxy when browsing certain forums.

Is it because I expect someone to launch an attack against me or track my IP? No, no it is not.

For encryption I like to use Toucan you can choose between using Rijndeal or Blowfish encryption. Though I haven't tried Truecrypt, is it any good?
