+What's the deal with the forums?
I have been gone for a long time, and I just started playing again a couple days ago. The game is still great, but I am already sorely disappointed in the forums.

1) Threads are closed within a day of being open (in the discussion section) that are clearly not finished discussions, as I was going to respond.

2) I got a private message that matches a dictionary definition of spam, I don't want more of it and I assume others don't either, so I reported it as spam. I got an infraction for "abuse" of the report function. I don't really care about infractions, since this nonsense makes me not want to use the forum in the first place.

My 2 cents...

1) It might just be a spam topic, or was just answered.

2) It probably wasn't even spam if it backfired on you.
CRASH3R - Perfectly imperfect. [UFC] It's a long road to glory.
Ok so who makes up these mysterious and magical definitions of spam that don't match the dictionary? And where can I find these new definitions regarding 1 and 2?

Spam - dictionary defonition.

1. A fav meat made for tin storage, and is good in sandwitchs.
2. a repetitive sentence or repeting of a sentence.
3. abusing the report button.
4. not closing threads for a reson
Not related to support, moved the BS.

IMHO don't post stating your disappointment in a forum, then fail to use it, it seems arrogant and foolish.

1) Talk to the mod who closed it, they probably have a very good reason.
2) Then report the user, there is a report button for a reason.

Oh and don't harass the people helping you.
A) True enough about posting in the wrong place.
B) Ok I'll ask the mods who closed them.
C) I did report the spam, that's the whole problem.
D) I'm not harassing the people helping. I'm amusedly bemoaning silly bureaucratic nonsense wherein mods doing what they are supposed to do actually subverts a healthy, functioning forum.
OK then, once you report something, let the administers and moderators deal with it, they get around to looking at all the problems very efficiently I've found from when I use the report system.

And sarcastically commenting as if CRASH3R had redefined spam, when he merely suggested you could be making a mistake is harassment imo.

Oh and stop acting as if your so superior to the mods, it's really not that flattering and gets you no where, when you want to have a rational discussion then your comments might be taken seriously.
I said nothing about CRASH3R redefining spam, in fact. He simply noted that apparently my definition of spam and the one used by the forum are different. That's why I asked who did the defining, and where I could find the definitions, so I could abide them, whatever their origin - post 3.

And, I'm not claiming to be superior to the mods - as I said in post 5, they are doing what they're supposed to do, just in doing so, it has created the issues I mentioned in post 1.

Thanks for the tips, and I'm sorry you find my humor arrogant.
Ok. I got negative rep points for post 5, with the comment, "Do you even know what your talking about in D?" Good job noticing that there is a lot packed in there, so let me explain. This is philosophy heavy, but someone wanted to know, so here it is. And I know this isn't that big of a deal, but this gives me a chance to actually apply something I learned in school.

"D) I'm not harassing the people helping. I'm amusedly bemoaning silly bureaucratic nonsense wherein mods doing what they are supposed to do actually subverts a healthy, functioning forum."

The members of any community have both rights and responsibilities, which must be properly balanced and maintained for the community to be healthy. Each member has rights to protect and promote the expression of autonomy and individuality, but also has responsibilities to maintain the relationships that the community is based on. One way to think about the relationship is that to the extent that people take responsibility for being a member of a community they should be afforded the relevant rights to participate in that community. In this context, the mods are here to maintain this balance, and that is what bureaucracy is - the protocol and practice of this maintenance.

I was annoyed because I was infracted for reporting spam after I got a PM that accords with what dictionaries call (electronic) spam (unsolicited, indiscriminate). I didn't want more spam, because I have a right to that (supposedly protected by mods), and I have a responsibility to report it because I don't want others to have to get the spam too. So I was annoyed because even though I exercised my responsibility, my rights were decreased. This is the opposite of the way things are supposed to work, but again, I don't blame the mod, as he/she was just doing his/her job. This is the "silly bureaucratic nonsense" I referred to - that even in following the protocol established to protect a proper relationship between rights and responsibilities, that very framework was undermined.

This theory can apply to any situation involving a collective - and if in the infinitesimally small chance that anyone found this interesting (lol), John Rawls and the principle of fairness is a good start.
