New player. Mixed feelings.
I checked out Toribash when it was pay-to-play so I thought it was interesting but not worth the scratch.
Now its free and I'm having a blast. Everything seems wonderful. Its not the best piece of software ever written, but I can't really ask for much more than this game's mere existence.
There is one extremely offsetting hangup in the entire discourse of this game: No private servers.
Not allowing me and my friend to set up a training dojo where just him and I can practice our openers, and fighting style in general, is I don't know a ridiculously peeving restriction to have! I read on the forums that there used to be private servers too! When the game was pay-to-play! If anyone, specifically the creators of this game can explain to me why, now that the game is /FREE/ you're forcing me to reverse engineer your server's protocol just so I can play with a few friends on a server exactly with the settings I like, well then the only wrong thing with this entire game would be out of my mind.
Cheers, this really is a great game, good work all around.
