There has been a lot of talk over the past few years about how ridiculously nationalistic and patriotic Australians get on Australia Day. Not only has it been said that Australians become racist, but also incredibly violent and tend to become criminals all in the spirit of National Pride.

My question you guys is: Can nationalism be a good thing? or is it all bad?

Sure, it's a good thing. maybe motivation to pay your taxes or something. Everything can be bad in excess, though. I guess it works the same way with patriotism.

Not that I'm racist, but as long as muslims don't dawn bombs, and take out populated buildings in the name of Alah, I'd be cool with their customs.

Everything is good in moderation.

If your country has pride and well, nationalism, the people will support it more. They'll pay taxes, join the military, and help their country a lot more then if they didn't like their country. If they have too little nationalism, will they won't do a thing for their country. If they have too much nationalism, well look at your post.

Also to the post above. That's not nationalism. That is Radical Islams. That is their religion. Has nothing to do with their country, or pride in their country.

I really can't understand how nationalism(so the believe that your country[this mean all the humans that were born inside the same borders]should be an advantage on other countries,or anyway it should'nt never be in disvantage)can be a good thing for the humanity(while i easily can understand how it can be a good thing for your nation)
Nationalism is the word for say "egoism" when we are talking about nations.

Actually in most of the country there is a "moderate" nationalism(if wasn't moderate,in this moment there should be another world war),so it should be a good thing?That's why everything in this world it's so perfect!

Nationalism isn't really useful for anything.

Without nationalism, nobody would vote, (unless they were straight logic) or do anything else to support their government voluntarily.
