Even I, who hates the emo/gothic crowd with a passion, am able to understand that "emo" kids don't kill themselves to seek revenge on their parents. They do it because they don't see a worthwhile future ahead of them. They're tormented in their young lives and are unable to grasp the concept that as people age, they become more open to all types of people. It's not selfish, it's desperate. It's selfish to call a loved one who committed suicide selfish. Someone killed themselves to escape lives problems, not gain what another has or what they envy.

I would call suicide desperate, or sometimes the people who do it, ignorant. Every case is different. Not all people who commit suicide are desperate, not all are ignorant. Some both, some neither.
