Just as tool said, when we generalize, when do we stop. Why does something have to conform to a general theory or list to be considered music. Who actually even created those guidelines. If you ask any musician "What is the definition of music," you will get a different answer each time. The music theory really just generalizes. It is based off of what music was in the past. Just because newer "music" does not fit the criteria for older music does not mean it is not music. If the "music theory" was always followed, then no new genre of music would ever be created.
Music is still an art, try making a dubstep song, or any of the modern music you hear today. Although it is not appealing, it is an art and is still considered music.

That's wrong. Music has always followed music theory, because they are one in the same thing. when something does not follow the theory, then it ceases to be music. Unless you can find a way to make music without rythme, tempo, and all the other things needed to make music, then you're just making noise. When I was a little kid, I hit the pans in my house together like I was clashing symbols, I wasn't making music, I was just annoying the shit out of my parents.
