Checking in on your stuff after like 6 months. You're getting really good really fast man, keep it up.
<&Fish>: did you just infract the toribot?
<&Fish>: you're fired
<JSnuffMARS> sounds like a drug-addiction or mastu(I'll censor that word)
<bishopONE>: also yeah fisting
<mwah> Gynx is it true you got admin over hero because hes from pakistan
maya makes rigging easy XD and zbrush is expensive, but beautiful (personally i prefer 3ds max and sculptris)

now.. the only thing that seems truly metallic is the beak, I'd say maybe add a specular map and use less extreme colors.. pure blacks never look good in final renders and browns should be desaturated a bit if used on avians/organics to look right highly saturated browns just seem off for animals.. as for your bump map it seems more like hair to me.. do you want it to look more feathered or metal plated?

and did you use depth of field blur?

Beep, Boop
that^ needed some sort of visually striking detail, normal beak and black eyes would just make for a boring image.

I used depth of field in combination with bloom and iris blur.
I like the small texturework on the bird in the first shot. Don't quite like how hard the shadows are though. Would probably consider having the claws bend back if it's just going to be flying.

Also this is kinda nitpicking, but I think it might look better with a bright single color backdrop. Given the camera angle and the top-down light. I don't think you'd really get that gradient effect.

Overall though it's very nice as usual. Do the wings clip when you move them?
(>^_^)>
Oh yeah good point about the claws, the horizon is placed in the right area done with a hdri generator, so the light is made together with the horizon and is therefore completely accurate
I tried with different single color backdrops but I find this more interesting. I don't understand the question "do the wings clip?".
The wings are controlled by a skeleton structure, so when you move the joints around you move the bird around to your will.
The skin is attached to the skeleton through skin painting to sort out how much influence each joint has to the skin.
IK handles are put in so the wings and feet and body won't strech or squish more than it should, and locators are placed to control the feather movement.
