Evolution or Devolution.
Are humans Evolved or Devolved? looks like a simple question but is it really so simple?

i say devolved. we maybe call ourself smart but we cant defend ourself with out a gun or something like that. look at animals. they can always protect them selfs with something they got. brute force. or sharps toots. etc.

But i will let it too you now. Discuss
I say we've evolved. Though we aren't as physically strong as pretty much all
medium-sized animals on the planet, we are superior mentally. We have evolved
through selective evolution. Y'know, "Survival of the fittest". We have evolved
to be able to use tools. Only us humans can actually use tools this well. True,
monkeys and primates can too, but nowhere nearly as well as us, and even then
it's generally very, very primitive tools. If we really had devolved, then would
you kindly explain to me why we are 6 billion people spread all over the planet?
We use tools because we have them, and because we CAN. It makes our lives
a lot easier. You wouldn't consider monkeys that started using tools as devolved, right?

you can say laughing that tools make our lives easier but is that really so?
if you had never heard of a hammer, a saw, a computer. would you miss them then? we cant imagine the life without tools because we always have had them. and in our so called procces of evolutionwe lost a lot of our sences. we can't hear as good as we could, we can't feel enemies coming from a distance, we cant feel trunami's coming anymore.
and the only reason that there are 6 billion people on earth is because wemade our weapons supperior to the weapons of others and than started to only think abaut ourselfs.

Whether we had known of a hammer or not, we know it makes things easier. What's easier? Pounding a nail in with a hammer or without one?
In response to supakiller: And that means devolution?
Physically, yes, we have devolved somewhat, but as Person said, we have evolved
mentally, a lot.
Also, if you didn't know about tools, you probably wouldn't think "Gee, i need a hammer
to hit this here stone", you'd probably think, "Isn't there any way to make this
easier?", because that's just the human nature. Why do you think our ancestors
made them in the first place? Whacking fruit down from a tree with a long stick
is much easier than having to climb up the tree, pick the fruits and then climb back down.
Sentient creatures would generally take the easy way out.
Edit: And yes, you need to get fruits from a tree. You need food. And being
an omnivore, you need meat too. And that gazelle is too dangerous to attack.
Oh wait, is that a sharp pole that will kill it a lot easier and take a lot less effort?

yeah no, we have evolved our behaviors tremendously, and yes it really does make our lives easier supakiller.
<FeD> i will allow my ass being raped
we dont need nails. after my school i lived 3 years in a cave to feel what it is to life in the wildernis with nothing but self made things. it was kinda fun.
but i must say that i would never give my life as a professional gamer up for it xD

edit*: my opinion shouldn't be devolded. you guys are right bout that. its more that we are over-evolved. think of this: some chiniche people wanted to make a life elixer. instead of finding that they made gunpowder... our own things are killing us now. we couldnt life without cars but they are making us die now. We made things that we will never need to survive but we think that we need them so we keep on making them.

And animals totally aren't killing each other over territory either.

Gawd. OF COURSE can we live without cars. We have legs. And they're not making
*us* die, they're deteriorating the Earth. Once again, cars just make our lives
that much easier. But we CAN live without them. People didn't have cars in the
medieval age. Now what did they do? They rode horses! Why? It's easier and faster
than walking yourself.

Blame capitalism and sentience. Probably any other creature that got sentient
would eventually end up like us, wanting shit and giggles for ourself.
