I bought my first watercolour set a year ago

...but have been using it like poster paint for almost a year

so I decided to actually learn how to watercolor instead of use it like poster paint

Heads up, if you don't want to see girls in suggestive clothing/poses, leave.
For the sake of practice and not ruining good sketches, I decided to use some images from the internet as reference. I will post my references along with the picture in the spoiler. Nothing is traced, just heavily based on the internet

First off, I really like the tones and execution on Alisa Ilinichina Amiella. All though it is just a wip the skin tones are a good choice of color, but they lack good blending. The first step in picking a color palette for skin tones in water color is finding a mid tone, and that is something that I fail to see. Not too much I can nit-pick out of it because it is just a wip, but overall it looks good can't wait to see it finished. On your first drawing it lacks shading and the color choices don't "pop" to me.

I thought you start with the light tone first and go over the light tone with the darker colours

ik im just saying your colors contrast so you need another color to blend them back together

Look like some good start.

Keep this up, you're going to learn fast if you are copying from already made pictures.

After this, when you will feel more comfy with those kind of thing try to design a whole character by yourself.

Nice, I find watercolour hard to use myself, so I'm impressed

you should test your colors on a separate sheet of paper, all of those marks on the sides
and top are a mess...
anyway, watercolor is a hard medium, good luck, but one tip, that might just be personal
preference, those hard dark outlines you did with ink that appear as they were done after
the watercoloring really take away from the charm of watercolor, and well.. the first one
just looks as though it was done with markers :v

another thing is, you should really work more on proportions and just general drawing
before you start to get into more complex things like watercolor.. the characters and
objects are really horribly proportionate

notice how some of their pieces do have inked outlines, but they still keep the painted
feel of the piece?
i'd like to very much recommend Nick-Ian, as his stuff relates more to what you're doing
