...what? why not? are you saying you want hate speech on toribash?

Of course not.

The doubts I have about that is the problem determining what's hate speech and what's not. Obviously, anything derogatory counts, but where does it end?

Hate speech - In law, hate speech is any speech, gesture or conduct, writing, or display which is forbidden because it may incite violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected individual or group, or because it disparages or intimidates a protected individual or group.

Intimidation is actually pretty broad. You can intimidate without the use of derogatory words with clever psychology. You see it in the discussion board all the time.

It's much easier to list out the words that should be banned, rather than generalizing hate speech, which could carry out some complications.

But look, the discussion started out on whether or not we should keep the ban on "nigger". It turns out that a lot of us are opposed to all kinds of hate speech. Would it be so bad to discuss which words should be banned?

so you're saying instead of deciding to let the mods draw an arbitrary (but reasonable) line in the sand, we should just say "fuck it" and let people spout whatever shitty opinions they want? simply because you personally can't distinguish hate speech from normal banter?

Could you please avoid picking apart posts to make them seem like they're ill-spoken? It's pretty obvious you're just trying (note "trying") to flame him.

That being said, harassment should still be punished. There's a huge difference between saying "I hate Muslims" or "put the niggers back in the cotton fields" or "God hates fags" or any of that, and actively singling out and harassing members of those minority groups. Let people say and express whatever they want, just don't let them bully others because of their own prejudices.

I'd generally agree with this statement, but my generation seems to have developed a need for attention and will pretend to be singled out over literally anything, including their reports being ignored for them being too sensitive. In an ideal world, this would be perfect, but ours is so completely out of reach from perfect that this ideology will just cause more complaints from whiney little shits.

No, I'm merely pushing the discussion forward, as it seems a fair number of people (including you) feel that all derogatory words should be treated the same.

I really hadn't hoped to get this much involved in the matter, but it seems you just want to over-exaggerate anything I say for the sake of winning the argument. And I'll be honest, I'm not sure what you're arguing for any more.

How about we just ban "faggot" too and not give two shits about context.
