Malwarebytes won't protect you from random 0 days you'd end up getting on said links

The only thing antiviruses protect you from is your own stupidity
Hoss.
i use comodo antivirus and firewall together with spybot, will
occasionally run malwarebytes for a scan and lastly
mvps hosts witch blocks most ads in browser pages.

If you're using Windows 7, Microsoft Security Essentials is actually pretty much superior to paid ones even unless you're trying to manage it across tons of PCs in a wprk environment. If you've got 8 or 10, Windows Defender is axtually built in and is pretty much the same thing. Either way, if you're using any even remotely modern Windows computer, there's absolutely no reason for a home user to get anything else.
