I have after effects but I dont know how to use and im too lazy to learn, i'll stick to vegas until I feel im becoming a good editor and vegas may be limiting me (which is less likely, vegas is still great)

you can make good edits regardless of which one you are using.
for me after effects was pretty easy to learn but i couldn't understand a shit in vegas (velocity really confused me).
its wierd considering most people say vegas is easier.

as far as im aware after can make more smooth and "flawless" stuff so it's more of a "pro tool" rather than vegas, that still works fine.

the difference is, vegas is an editing program (like premiere pro) and after effects is a composition program.
in short clips with heavy effects Ae will be the ideal choice but if you are editing a movie then vegas is the way to go (or you can use premier pro and after effects flow work for the best result).
