IMO the graphical updates should be secondary to things like, as Vigilante said, cylinders and other environmental, game-play and chat features. For example I'd like to see copy pasta in chat cause it's fucking annoying having to type out an entire youtube URL, then probably things like a mechanism for using IRC built in, so that every server has its own IRC channel. Perhaps having the features of the shop built into the game also. Other than that I'd like to see 1v1v1 and 2v2/1v1v1v1 before any new shiny graphics, and maybe some control over the angle to which your joints move etc, that'd be cool. Then once all that is done I think it would be appropriate to put in some pro gfx. I'm wondering if the new graphics will be able to be turned off/down to the current shader graphics and subsequently non-shader graphics?

Well, I for one am just waiting for a better worldbuilder.
Which I now have, thanks to 2 scripters and not devs (Blam and Dafe), but it can't be used in conjunction with MP. Having a lot of objects does work, though. It's been proven.
I've had 160 objects on screen without lag.
This proves it.
infamous
must be like the wii version
with stains
w/ or w/ out shaders
or hair
or pets
or shorts
or t-shirts wearing
or more accessories (check spelling)

what about optional 2-2 if it lags you continue to play on the 1-1 servers i mean, than if i wanna throw darkjak at my enemys face i can LOL. you all say "OMG ITS TOTALLY LAGGY" well...true but your the ones who also said textured trails wouldent happen...you follow?
Trust me it dosnt lag as bad as the new pixel shaders, or the soon to be reflective textures (unless you bunch into a 4 man orgy grabfest....) XD but than again im runing a 4 year old comp with opengl 1.4 XD i cant see shaders regardless...bring on the continuous rendering idea lol...

Vamp, i barely understood half of what you said. What the heck are you talking about?
dang, no true cylinders is a bit sad D:

I believe reflective surfaces would cause more graphics lag than 2v2 would cause computing/physics lag.

I mean, to be able to render 30 large pov-ray quality pics per second? Versus 4 times the calculations. One seems herculean, while the other just seems difficult....

What are pixel shaders? I just got a computer with a uber great Graphics card, and I'm still discovering the premium graphics of TB.

No.
Toribash has to calculate the physics SERVERSIDE for online matches. 2v2 kills the SERVERS. Fancy graphics only lag you, not the whole server.
i have a totally post modern tattoo of a scalene triangle.

<DeadorK> it shall be in mine as well
As ive seen some other people on this thread talk about sucess when their enemy has lost enough health. That would be nice to with an blood bar and scars showing how left your enemy has left to live.
THE IMPORTANT PART
dude....scars would pwn...you have them for ever unless you get a scar removal....2k or something in the shops...sounds cool....but what if i get "Lead piped" in the butt (as in smacked with a lead pipe just to clarify)....and people saw it....LOL

THE BORING/CONFUSING/ANNOYING PART
its irrelevant now, as people say it would kill the servers....you see, servers have data uploaded than downloaded by games....and toribash's servers cant handle information from 4 people at once....apparently
allow me to explane: pretend your on one of these computers playing toribash, you send the fact that you extended your knee to the server which sends it to the other comps to see.....now lets say im against you...well i upload the information that Ive retracted my right arm to the server and that goes to all the other players also....and as war hero is saying the server cant take in and send out the info from more than 2 players....which means either that its using a crappy server or the files are huge....which makes no sense because unless i don't understand how this quite works, toribash should write notepad documents....which add up to about 1kb - 1000kb files....although i guess that would double if you had twice as many players.....such a cluttered code.

THE IMPORTANT PART
now that im done any assumptions that im willing to make, can someone answer something for me?
if its true what i say, and toribash uploads the equivalent of an .rpl file to the server for every match....does that rpl file constantly get updated or is it uploading a new .rpl every turnframe? because that could make all the difference

pretty bad when you type so much crap you need to point out whats important...

The game play bandwidth of full game of Toribash is approximately the same size as one head texture. The full .rpl is not uploaded every frame. For one game you sometimes download 40 or more textures.

2vs2 sounded cooler on paper than it turned out to be. That is the reason I didn't add it in the end.

This 4.0 blog post was just to show of some new graphics we where working on. There will of course be game play, bug fixes, new content and all that as usual.
