There are also other points why athletes get paid so much.
Elite athletes are very few in number. Guess why?
It takes years and years of practice and sacrifices to make it to the level where one can do the sport full time without a second job.
Doctors and teachers study for what 15-20 years but remember that most athletes have went through the same time educating themselves + the sport wich is really hard work.
I quit ice hockey at the age of 15, because I couldn't handle the number of practices per week, 6/week + games. So I have respect for people who can endure the pressure it takes to be a pro athlete, I bet that 99.9% of toribash players won't have the prerequisites to be pro athletes. I guess that most people disapproving athletes salaries haven't played any serious sport and don't understand the amount of work that the pro athletes have gone through, it also takes a lot of natural talent or steroids to make it to the top.
Don't watch sports if you disapprove the huge salaries paid to the best in the world.
I'll have fun while watching pro athletes put their bodies and lifes at a risk for me to get entertained.
It would be fun If I got paid for playing ice hockey but I'm just not mentally fit to be a pro.
Or maybe I'll become a pest and continue the legacy of Tikkanen and Ruutu.
EDIT: + I completely agree with Rafafu.
