I think he meant to say
"My cousin is emo. My Aunt said he does nothing, is dark or *incomprehensible*."

bathed emo dick locus? wow
but yeah, emo poetry is a very easy thing to replicate with a half decent vocab, people use it alot to get there feelings out onto paper theres nothing wrong with it though
I only hate it when "emos" become hypocritical in their views, a few I know also seem to act like they know something I dont, like they have seen the poetical light blahblahblah.
Ive gone through depression before, and its a dark place but I get the feeling "emos" try to recreate a depressive state for themselves to get sympathy or emo cred.
meh, as soemone said before, and I forget their name (sorry), different strokes for different folks.
I just leave them be, they usually get over it when they're older (you dont see many 40 year old emos)

Emo is fake. Like, totally. They whine about unimportant things, and can't notice that no one gives a flying fuck about them. And they also look stupid.

I like poetry with a real meaning, with a real problem/thought on the writer's mind. Same applies for music.
I think you're all generalizing faggots (well, most of you at least).

Art has gotten dumbed down on all mediums. Music, painting, writing - whatever. Our generations music is shit, our paintings look like crap, and our writing is retarded. It's ok by todays standards. Also, how old are we? We're teens. How the hell are we supposed to have mastered ANY artform yet?

Besides, even if kids today are over-sensitive, we're told by therapists, teachers, etc, that writing is a good way to express feelings. Alot of kids are depressed, and alot like to use different methods to get those feelings out.

I don't care for the whole emo-trend myself, but people that I know and [somewhat] like do. They're not retarded. There was a time when I cared enough to try and stick out from the masses, but then you realize, hey - you just step into another shitty sub-culture. They like the clothing, they like the hair-do's - good for them. I bet you guys wear much cooler clothes/have much cooler hair.

Oh, by the way, stop sourcing from your shitty american tv/e-shows.

One last thing: a_coathanger, stop inserting your shitty republican propaganda thanks.

I certainly don't think art should be devoid of emotion entirely. Ivolt brought up The Raven, and that's one of many works which appeals to our "negative" emotions. Fear, tragedy, madness, these things interest us because they are a part of life and people with a drive to live their life to its fullest are will not be satisfied with a life without conflict, a life with no challenges. The problem lies in people failing to fulfill their need to live fully, ignoring their blessings and only focusing on the negative. Despair and the mysterious, fearsome eventuality of eventual death are things that we as humans must overcome emotionally if we are to grow truly wise. Allowing it to consume your mind is no better than only allowing anger or fear to control your thoughts. When it comes down to it, is there really no possible way for these kids to improve their lives? There always is. I've considered suicide, not seriously, but at some point I've just figured what it would be like. I couldn't help but think immediately afterward how much more fun it would be to go out and steal a bunch of money, get a bunch of drugs and skip town. I'd go cross-country, a wanted criminal, organizing petty thefts across the coast! Indecent exposure at the Super Bowl! I'll save my family the shame and call myself Hugh Jardon. Life in prison for being a luser.

And then I was like, well, I've got it fine. Best to enjoy the better things in life.

Personally, being "emo" is just an attention seeking scheme where little 14 year olds dress up in "scene" clothing to pretend that they're sad. Then people notice this and feel sorry for them which gives the "emotionally unstable" children what they wanted.

But being satanic and dark is a whole different matter. If you're talking about that in art, then it's just another culture that is steadily growing more popular because of metal heads etc. This stuff really isn't that bad.

Emo culture is a whole different thing and, in my opinion, is a piece of shit.

Yes but I brought up the raven because it's a beautifuly written piece of poetry.

I agree with Dalir, this generation is well, to put it simply, shit. probably the one that will see the worlds end. but on track, I've also noticed that more and more people are just...giving up or saying "how they hate life" for no clear reason. they just sit and mope and expect sympathy. Why, in any ones
right mind, would they do that? Attention? probably. It just annoys me quite a bit.
My seniority means you should probably just agree with everything I say
Everything creative could already be a form of art, so i think that if those kids put their feeling into it and let it flow on paper its not only an outled but also art, hell rearanging your bathroom tiles can be art, putting pooh on a stick and writing "shit on a stick" beneath it can be art to, and it is very easy to bash people that live differently and show no respect whatshowever, when you say they are full of shit you should really look at yourself in the mirror and see what life you are choosing, i believe no-one is perfect how hard they try to be, you allways fail in someones eyes if it arent already your own.
And i detest the name "Emo" because i think it comes from "emotional" right? ( srry im dutch ) whats wrong with being emotional, now dark feelings and negativity is being connected to the word "emotional" emotions are human qualities, and maybe the source of art itself, for the record im not a negative person or """"emo"""" but i can see why some choose to be in that ambience.

No, people who pretend to be emo should be shipped off to Sudan, then they can whine and bitch all they want. Anyone BAWWing over the fact that you got a B on a test or that your not in the top 5 list on everyone's myspaces should be hit with a golf club until they really are black and blue. I can't even stand genuine emo's, they whine and complain about everything. If your not eating vegan slop from a bucket then they whine about you murdering animals. Pro-life? they whine that unborn children are "property" that can be disposed of because a woman cant simply give it to a foster home. Religious? They whine that religion causes wars. They expect everyone to change for their needs. Emo's can go get hit by a train for all I care.

Not everyone is happy with everything, and though you might think you are just as unhappy ( wich might be possible) or just happy, it could also be these people really are depressed and do really experience the world in another way, at least thats the way you could look at it when you have respect and take such a person seriously.
I think no human being likes to be ridiculed or disrespected by another, so just saying they should get hit by a train really doesnt contribute to a solution for anyone, in fact it is quite negative.. maybe.. maybe you are just as negative!? :P Looking at the negative/darker things in the world isnt something that should be disrespected, but in my opininion it should be encouraged to be more aware of the thing that are going on, instead of just being trained to eat/shit and f*ck yourself silly ghehe. If more people wouldnt ignore some of the things the "emokids" are "whining" about, the world could perhaps be a happier place for more people instead of just those who call people with problems whiners.

Anyways i think it should be considered art when someone writes his feelings down, or else Shakespeare should just be called a whiner.

To conclude:
Was Ghandi an "emo/whiner"
"I dissaprove of what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it"
