If it's brushes, you really need some work.

Brushes are about the easiest shortcut in the world, and when you use them, you usually get blammed to shit because of it.

Although, the birds to the left look blended in.

That explosion doesn't look realistic at all, nay the reflection...also what the heck is whit that cheap supernova placed behind the smoke ?

You should have let the original brightness and then make the focal point lighter, making the explosion effect more intense,and it doesn't matter if it's first, many artist around the forum made a good impression from first try.
