You're certainly not an idiot, you just failed to take into account the possibilities of all adoption and put unnecessary emphasis on homosexuality as being a defining factor in that possibility. Homosexuality has not been linked to child molestation or abuse of adoptive services, therefore there is no logical basis for denying homosexuals access to adoptive services. It is understandable how you might be mislead to believe otherwise, a common aspect of anti-gay propaganda is attempts to link it to things like paedophilia and bestiality. Taking the time to learn about these issues from a variety of sources is an important step in discerning what should be done.

Imagine if you were the child, having a gay father? The amount of bullying and mockery would be horrendus.
Only way one could end up having a gay father is if one was in an orphanage, i imagine, because gay couples can't produce a child on their own.
Now, i figure having a real family beats being in an orphanage by a long shot, despite the fact that other kids may be a pain at first. Also consider the fact that the more common this phenomena would be, the less reason for mockery kids will have.
