and actually Peach and Jigglypuff in Melee were the best for some odd reason.

Marth kicks most ass in Brawl because he has like twice as many moves as any one character. IT gives you an advantage of being extremely unpredictable.

Jigglypuff is probably the best in melee, she rapes all fastfallers, and can gimp pretty much any character either by getting them off the stage and gaying them, or by resting from an utilt or uair. The only character that can counter her in my opinion is marth, by outspacing her with his sword.
Peach is not as good, but some players are INCREDIBLE with her. Notably armada. The speed that he plays at is unreal, he can float cancel a nair in like 22 frames, almost a third of a second.

A lot of people still consider fox, marth and sheik to be the best, it's constantly a topic of argument in the smash community.

Regular link, compared to toon link has:
* Really bad recovery
* He falls really fast, whereas toon link is pretty floaty
* Slower but stronger moves
* Slow at moving around
* Longer reach

There's more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Most people don't like regular link because of the first point... His recovery is abysmal :v

Also, Toon Link has more than 1 different move from a normal Link. Up smash, forward/back air, down air etc. Similar but different.
