Secret Santa 2024
evidently you are not getting cleverest?
give a reason to think that! of course im getting cleverest, most pll does, im pretty much clever than a monkey, its a fact.
btw.. you confirm what i said ppl who belive in god. just repeat what other said with out think.
btw you belive in god? why you called god? do you belive in heaven?
did you figured out by yourself any of this?
belive is for dumps! unknown is for clevers!
I'd consider myself an atheist too, i don't believe in any god and think that church in general is nothing to invest in. But how do i proove it? yes, i celebrate Christmas, my Birthday, Holidays, Easter and all that shit, but for my personal use. If our society offers me many chances to have free time or get gifts, why shouldnt i take that chance? I've never seen anyone forcing me to say i'd believe in jesus to get a christmas present.

btw, theres a sect calling themselves jehovas Whitnesses, they visit our house annually and give us a newspaper "the watchtower". Are they in america too?
"that head is badass"
Yes Jehovah's Witnesses are widespread. It's more of a popular cult than a sect, though. Their secrets are nearly as bad as that of the Scientologists.

what? how can you comment on a post you clearly do not have the language skills to understand. You could've at least put what i wrote through a translator, instead of spewing random, mostly unrelated verbal garbage.
I agree with Steve, there are far too many kids who hear about atheism from some phony, attention-whoring secularists and can't even repeat what they say properly.

I am cleverest then monkey 2, h4rl
To all you "agosticism is atheism" people:

Agnosticism is claiming that the existence of a God cannot be proven or disproven, being therefore unknowable.

Atheism is simply rejecting the existence of deities.

Disbelief in any and all deities and organized religion? In most religions, you have to prove your commitment to it. Jews have to have a bar mitzvah, Christians and Catholics have baptisms and whatnot, Muslim's are supposed to pray five times a day, I could go on and on. To profess your committed belief in atheism, all you have to say is "I am an atheist." I find that to be incredibly irritating. I want people to prove their disbelief.

That's like saying: "I'm fed up with people not believing in unicorns for no reason! I want people to PROVE why you don't believe in unicorns or I'll think you're irritating!"

That being said, my family is Christian, and I am as well, but I am an atheist. I am a "Christian" because I was baptized, had a first communion, etc. I am an atheist because in spite of this, I do not believe in a god. I'm also pretty pissed at the lack of choice presented by my family about that.

You can become atheist or theist at any time because they are simply terms to describe. They are not religions. I don't see the big deal.

As to why, it's only reasonable. God itself is not unreasonable, but the idea of worshipping God and believing that we are his prized creations is quite vain and subjective. Why would we get special instructions from an omnipotent God? If "God" really wanted us to behave in a particular manner, and did indeed design us, and is indeed omnipotent, we could have been made to do it straight away. Theists will give some kind of argument about "But God wanted us to have free will at the same time!" Then they claim "But God is all-powerful and can do anything." Apparently he can't do that. And there are tons of other things he can't do either. See any religious text for more contradictions. Religion contains human errors because it is of human creation.

The God of nearly all religion is totally unreasonable, especially considering the hundreds(thousands?) of groups throughout history all saying the others are wrong.

I believe in a force of the universe that encompasses all, living and inanimate. Completely unbiased, because we are all the same. Magnitude of complexity is infinite on both ends of the scale. We are a simply a singularity but at same time we are infinitely complex. There is no creator, as our time and space is also of the infinite scale. We exist and do not exist at once.

There aren't really any secrets. Our own sentience has fooled us into thinking that there are.

Thanks for your time.

P.S. By definition, Agnosticism and atheism are describing different things and are not interchangeable, nor replace one another. Agnosticism is the state of claiming it impossible to know, or presently unknown by oneself, the state of existence of a deity. Theism is the belief in a deity. Believe and knowledge are not interchangeable.

For example, I believe that I am more intelligent than the collective average of people that I meet. Do I claim to know as a certainty that this is true? No.
The same goes for deities. I am an agnostic atheist. Do I believe a god exists? No, but I do not claim to know, for a fact, that one does not. Stop misusing awesome words. But then again, they're just words. I'll stop now before I go into a very very lengthy tangent that would be off-topic.

Also, fuck apple, fuck trendy people, fuck people who use atheism as an excuse to ruin their lives.

Atheism = THERE IS NO GOD. Lack of belief is DIFFERENT than "THERE IS NO GOD".

Your categorization of atheists is very, very wrong in many ways. Where do the atheist philosophers and scholars go, who participate in debate with plenty rational reasons for their cause?

On topic, the famous philosopher and agnostic Bertrand Russell said that lack of evidence shouldn't lead one to atheism. Just like when someone is asked while standing on the cliff of the Grand Canyon if there is a fly down there, and replies "absolutely no", it can't be justified. Based on the epistemic situation of the viewer, agnosticism is the only appropriate response. Epistemic situation meaning the limit of your ability to absolutely know something through typical means of knowing (perception, etc)

You can only rationally deny the existence of a fly in the Grand Canyon only if you expect to have the evidence sufficient to know that a fly exists, but instead lack it. Similarly for an atheist, he must do is show that our epistemic situation, with respect to belief in God’s existence, allows us to know the absolute truth. He also has to demonstrate that we lack sufficient evidence for knowing that God exists which means he must show that all the arguments for God are unsound and then argue that if God existed then we would expect to be in a position to know whether God exists.

The fundamental problem with threads about god or religion on this forum is that any point that requires a shred of intelligence or open mindedness goes way over the head of the swarm of morons that populate the forum.

Discussions are often short when all parties are reasonable.
