Secret Santa 2024

Gorillaz Plastic Beach
This album was utterly amazing from the first song I heard to the last
I bought the Whole Gorillaz Experience Package and it is defiantly worth the money.
Each song creates an atmosphere which is vividly produced by the Gorillaz ability to take various genres of music melt them into one stellar sound.

In fact its a pretty bad album.
I expected a lot more than a bunch of features and lame beats.
Not trolling btw....har har.
Its the kind of album that proves that if you were succesfull once, you will be in the future.
Hype it good and place ads, it will sell decently, the music doesnt really matter.

This very album is the Lady Gaga version of what Gorillaz used to be.

Cheers.
<Alan> lol, rutz, it might be cool to smell your ass all the time you touch the mic

Coming from the Gorillaz themselves they wanted to change the beats into a more "euphoric" theme, for example listen to White Flag.
To be honest there are 2 drastic sides on the album
1: The old fans since the first album who are still craving the old Gorillaz feel
2: Fans who like the change they've taken.

For me the Gorillaz have always seemed euphoric, and Plastic Beach just enhanced it to a different field.

From "Murdoc Niccals" on Plastic Beach from Gorillaz.com

"This is a new sound for Gorillaz. An electro-ish ‘crack funk’ sound, with a little bit of politics and a lot of soul going down. With 'Stylo', I wanted the music to feel euphoric, whilst still putting across how precarious our tightly packed situation is now, worldwide."

Anyway like I said 2 different sides love it or hate it.

ofc bro. but since its a "band" and has the name Gorillaz I tend to use the plural.

I got it like 2 weeks ago because I'm a sneaky bastard and I showed it to all my friends and everyone loves it so far.
There's a song on there everyone can enjoy because it covers such a wide variety of music while still staying true to what the Gorillaz are. At first I wasn't really into some of the songs but after a day when you go back and listen to them again you realize that they're great. It also doesn't hurt to have famous people from all over the place contributing to your album.

Comparing this to Lady Gaga is rather stupid. This album isn't supposed to be composed of gritty songs like the Gorillaz used to make, it's supposed to be more upbeat and melodic. If you want more of the same then go listen to their old CDs, if you want something fresh go out and buy this album.
It sounds like his manager is paying you.

I'll check it out, but I didn't really like the only new gorillaz song I've heard recently which I assume is on the new album, stylo.
i have a totally post modern tattoo of a scalene triangle.

ehh tbh stylo was horrible but it did fit the video in a way I guess. Listen to White Flag or Cloud of the Unknowing both peaceful and melodic.

Also this is the only album where the Gorillaz did not have an outside producer come in

the last 2 albums had Dan The Automator and some other dude (rat something) producing the songs. This one is an effort by Damon Albarn himself, that might also be the reason why he decided to alter the original "overall" sound of the Gorillaz.

It's quite horrible, really. I think "Plastic" kind of sums it up, as in "Cheap, expendable and bad tasting".
LIGHTING FROM MY EYES
Derp, I just saw the Gorillaz song stylo on TV before. I liked it, i've always had a bit of a thing for the Gorillaz. I want to listen to it again, closer, as you guys are saying it's shit :l
