Ugh... Dude, I realy hate to burst your bubble, But Ninja's are actuly regarded as assasins.. A person who assasinates 'Quote"High profile persons"Unquote' Is *genrely regarded as an Assasin/Assasintor, Just because they have been known to use a different method to what you're supposing it doesn't change at all who they are, And yes- Just because a professional Assasin uses a high powered rifle as to a knife, Does not change his place at all. Ok here's what I'm thinking; Ninja(Ninjitsu) are not assassin's.
They had been poor country folk originating from Japan and also China.
They trained themselves in this art not for assassinating but to fight off the Samurai who had been taking there land from them.
They had however assassinated people/Feudal lords (This is most probably how they had been put in the same category as assassin's.) etc.

Assassins had no intention of harming the innocent only their specific target. These people are assigned to kill certain men who are a threat to society Etc.

Ninja's and assassins are the same in some areas like; they use stealth, they can adapt to their specific enviroment even if they are compramised. and etc
