I used Gaussian blur (I think that's how it is spelled) and motion blur on several duplicated layers of the head picture. Then I changed around the brightness and contrast, and changed the layer style for each layer (overlay, soft light, etc.)

ah. Ok. I've got to try that some time. Did you use a screenshot or Blender?

Looks really cool, anyway.
