I'm sure that those which are unwanted will simply be destroyed... aka war and removal through possible mind control... hey you never know what technology can accomplish

there will also be a language barrier but that really wouldn't be a problem because English or Chinese is offered in most schools around the world so one of them is bound to become universal.
but some countries will have to let go of religious ties and that will be hard.

I'm sure they could incorporate all religions into the country like how multicultural and modern countries are doing today. Even right now human rights activists are fighting for other religions in their own countries like in come places in England.

The religious views of different countries will certainly prove to be a major blockage in having a "United Countries of Earth".
I feel that China will be the next major power though, they seem to be rather advanced in technology but a little inadvanced in the way their country is run.
Although i believe even with this immaturity, they will overcome it sometime soon and then they will rise over the US.
I agree that China seems to be the most challenging country right now. Right now it is constantly growing economically even while there was a global economic crisis. Once the government gets reformed, it will have enough space to grow even more.

I just hope that the growth won't be at the expense of the poor people more than what it already is.
