RFID tagging stuff is just way too simple.
The triangulating idea is somewhat better. If it was fast enough, you could use it in conjunction with sports to improve/record form. You can't do that with a cell phone. Add in some neural network coding in order to find what form gave you your best results, pro.
Or, above triangulation in combination with some other arts. I guess the only thing that applies is dance.

This is probably a stupid suggestion, but a suggestion none-the-less. Why not take the door idea and make it turn on and off lights as you enter and leave rooms.
Coupled with triangulation, you could make the tv turn on when you sit on the couch, and the lights toggle when you go through the door, and make the stove start cooking some bacon when you look out the window (the last suggestion may not be practical, but bacon is tasty).
