Well I am think of buying a Wacom Bamboo Pad and I was wondering if any of you had one. Ive been wanting one for a wile for art, but hadn't had the money. Now I have the money for one. Ive heard there just not for art programs such as Photoshop, can they be used as a mouse? So can you give me some cons and pros on them, just to get my facts right.

Pros:
-If you like to draw/paint digitally and you are good at drawing in real life, it's great.
-Bamboo's are generally pretty high quality and won't break on you often.
-To answer your question, yes it can be used as a mouse.

Cons:
-Wacom is generally expensive. There are cheaper alternatives.

Contrary to what people seem to believe on these forums, a tablet doesn't instantly make you better.

If you're serious about using it a lot, I'ld recommend a Wacom but if you're going to just use it from time to time, get something cheaper.

Yea I draw more than I use Photoshop and gimp, so ill just with the wacom thanks anyway Lwafflez. Kudos to you.

I have a waccom. It came with photoshop elements and corel paint.

I haven't had any issues with it, and it works well in GIMP. I didn't buy it myself, it was a gift, so unfortunately I can't put any input on that matter.

I'd listen to waffle, test the waters first, then upgrade. I know you probably don't want to shell out 100-150 at first especially if you are going to upgrade, but it's better than putting all of your money in someting you won't ever use.

Well I got one of the cheaper Wacoms and it's all I really need. It cost around $50.

I would suggest a Wacom because they are accepted as the standard and will be best supported.

I would say it's a little bit of a gamble to get anything else.

But like all things on the internet, if you put in the research then you can buy something else safely, you just have to be willing to take the time.

Wacom tablets are good but very expensive. For the price you ALWAYS get quality.
BUT...

I tested the Bamboo at a friends house. It sucked imo.
The quality of the brushstroke was ok, but the space for drawing is too small for my taste.
In fact it was that small, that I lost euphory pretty fast for drawing something complex.

What size did you find too small?

There is a small bamboo and a medium and (i assume) a large.
