They were happy!!! People were crying, when on 80's olympiс games bear flew to the sky... People were exited of their lives. I remeber when we were traveling on bikes with parrents. Epic summer camps, where you can go out of building and pick up some berries and mushrums. Perfect clean nature and cityes. People were working for real money and dont even think about cheating or stealing more. There were stability. I dont say that there were only pluses, bad side of communism got some perssure on ppls. But in overall that were epic times. And then it ruined. And became haos.. That was worst time ever....

If it was such a paradise then why did the people rise up and overthrow the despotic leadership?

Well, during the epoch of socialism everyone has been feeling theirselves much better than in 1991 when the USSR ceased to exist.
And yeah, the USSR fell into pieces because of some politicians who wanted more powers than they could achieve earlier. No one except them rose up, actually.
All animals are equal but some are more equal than others.

EDIT: bugger it, somebody got there before me.

Capitalism works, it just sucks that you've had some pretty horrible people pulling the strings in Albania. But then the vast majority of Communist Dictators (which by the way is a hilarious title) have been monsters. You only have to look at the past to see that communism just doesn't work.

I hear this argument a lot, and it always makes me wonder if that is good enough reason to accept capitalism. Im off topic, since I don't condone communism either, but how well has capitalism really worked? It seems to me that capitalism has just grown, and in recent years has grown to the point that we are beginning to see some of the backlashes of it. Capitalism has always, and will always exploit someone, so why is that considered functional?

I'm out

I had a luck to live in the mild version of communism. Tito was playing on two chairs (look who is Tito on wikipedia, best ruler in the universe if u ask me). He said NO to the SSSR and open possibility for USA to have their part of the cake. Then he fooled them all and we had something close to communism but not quite.
For 50 years it was a golden age of the Yugoslavia. We were respected from every country in the surroundings and abroad. If u ask me, I remember those days same as NBLX. They were a happy days, when u get what u earned from your work, where ppl that were working hard were praised and got so much beneficiaries, free knowledge and education, free medical help, ppl competed with each others to be better in their work, and not cause some dictator was holding axe above their head. It was a time when I could go with my parents every year to vacation, to some nice hotel, to the sea, everywhere in my big country Yugoslavia.
What happened?
Tito died, socialism wasn't good enough for working class anymore, they wanted some change, let's privatized everything and live the American dream. Every republic wanted to get separated and turn into capitalist country over night. Some guys saw the opportunity to get power and money really fast playing on the national pride and cultural differences to boost their voting count and propel themselves to be new Tito, but capitalist version.
Epilogue:
4 years of civil war, genocide, whole country in ruins. Bombardment from the ''brother capitalist'' USA :P, then enforced peace.
Today:
We have capitalism, almost no middle class, poor and extra rich. You work like a horse for 50 years in hope to get pension while u can get sacked for bad look at your boss (something unbelievable in late Yugoslavia). Even when u work like a god-damn super-working-machine you get treatment like u are shit (while your boss was depending on your will in communism, now it's reversed). You can go to vacation in your former big country, but now u must have a passport to traverse anywhere + u can go if u a rich, middle class and poor ones just lay down on their balcony collecting sun in hope for better future.

From mine perspective, Idk what what was ''hard communism'' like, I lived 17 years in the mild one and those were the best fucking years of my life.
Now is shit.
So, totally objectively from my side:
CAPITALISM = CRAP,
(mild ver.) COMMUNISM = PROSPERITY!
Although, it seams this much depends who is on the head of the country. Asshole ''presidente'' will make your life miserable no matter in which establishment u live.

It works efficiently in small countries, it is unstable in large countries.

When, and where? Proof?

Communism, Stalinism, Maoism, are not completely different. They come from a very similar base, they are just different versions of the same thing, each, is evil. I'm not just talking Stalin, mate.
