Meh, this is a typical example of people going for the profit no matter what.
Farmers could easily improve the animal's life by spending more money on more human methods.
Meat would probably become a little more expensive on the long run.
Since we live in a capitalistic system competition needs to be beaten even if that means that some animals suffer
They do not desire to make their life better and rather maximize the profit.
…wat?
Hunted by cows and birds?
If anything it is
Profit, or more profit.
Be the good guy and play devil's advocate, more or less? @_@
Ok sure, if you say so!
I think that this kind of thing is completely acceptable. Firstly because we are the dominant species in this world, we can and should do whatever we find culturally acceptable. We need our beef, and this is the easiest way to get it. I don't see anything wrong with that.
Besides that, what does it matter if some dumb animal feels some pain in the moments before it's death? The workers obviously don't care, so why should we? They only reason that someone would say "oh this is so bad and unacceptable" is because they are ignorant. This goes on a hundred thousand times a day, every day, in every country.
I could guilt trip you every day of the week, about much more meaningful stuff (deforestation of rain-forests just so you can get your toilet paper huh? pollution of oceans and rivers from your soap? etc etc), but the bottom line is no one really cares.
People as a whole do not care about this meaningless shit, they just want their big mac.
Just watching the first ten seconds make me shudder. Espeicially when they showed the pigs mouth. Thats when I exited.
What has the world come to?
And? Don't like it, don't eat it.
I personally could not care less, yes, it could be more humane, however, it is human life. All things strive to live, it is necessary to kill to survive. Death is the absence of life and death is necessary for life to occur.
Remember, this same exact stuff happened to living human beings over history (only more painful because humans experience feeling in greater volume than most animals), from the Gulag, to the Extermination camps of the SS, to Vlad the Impaler's dungeon. Shit happens, it just depends on how we deal with it. Don't let your frail sensitivities get in the way of things, if it happens, it happens, besides that, this was a very negative video towards the meat industry, and I doubt it shows both sides, and probably went out of their way to find instances of inhumanity towards animals.
Again, if you don't like it, don't eat it.
I salute you sir, you hit the nail on the head. The only thing I'm really worried about is the sored meat, I don't want to happen to be the unlucky one to eat that. Besides the point, mmm... big macs. ;o
Boohoo. The world has always been this way, survival of the fittest. Also, the video wasn't that bad.
Hit that chicken with the crowbar again, farmer man!
EDIT: Sorry, had to bring this up. I just saw that part of the video where the guy was owning a cow in the face and then body slamming it. I couldn't help but laugh a little.. It reminds me of punching babies, except in calf form.
It is not a question of decision but a question of ethics.
A government could easily pass laws that prohibit cruelty like that.
The production would be a little more expensive, but that is a minor side effect that the market will adapt and get used to.
Not sure if you are trolling.
We are in a sophisticated society, we don't need to fight the creatures we eat and keep them down or anything . :|
There is a point when too much is too much.
This isn't animal abuse, chickens are mentally retarded creatures by nature.
Pigs are fatasses that would probably only die on their own for what they are worth.
Cows... what do they live for? Eating grass. Indeed.
Animal abuse would be abusing an animal that DIDN'T end up in a big mac/bacon strip/chicken tender.
