One time, i almost died because of sunburn. I have a really "Nordic" skin type and i burn very easily. When i first came to US, we went to the beach in Ocean City. Well, we spent quite a while on the sun, but not more than we usually spent in Russia on the beach (it gets to around 84+ F in summer there). Of course, i didn't know ocean salt on your skin + sun is so bad....At first it was all cool and dandy, but on the way back in the car i felt my body temperature rising. When we came back home after 2 hour drive, i was already red like boiled lobster. Everything. Inside of my legs, armpits, basically everywhere except my pelvic region....Soon all my skin got swollen and covered in blisters. I looked like red, fat Chinese person with bubble wrap for my skin (area around my eyes was blistering too). My fever was very high, i was shivering. Touching any surface was a torture. Luckily, many people on my mother's side are medics, and she had experience too, so she helped me. Sleeping was soo fun, too......Anyway, after a week or 2 my skin wasn't swollen, and it started to peel off me like skin off boiled young potato....I could take a piece from my hip, and peel it down to my calf. Later i stopped touching it, as i was advised, and 2 more layers came off. After that, my skin was almost as white as it was before......at last it was over.
This was actually the most painful experience in my life, as far as physical pain goes. Must have been 75% of my skin burned.....
