ps. checked out grim.snafu and trollquest -fwin I'm not familiar with the comics referred to but it reminded me of "On a Pale Horse" -Piers Anthony published in 1983 (I read it shortly after it came out, damn I'm old) Basic plot: Guy trying to commit suicide accidentally kills death, and so has to take over his job. Hi-jinks ensue through eight books.
