I can't imagine that veb deleted the usergroup hampa/nok/veb were in. My guess is that he got rid of the "Administrator" and "Super Moderator" usergroups, and kept the hidden-admin-Ninja one. He may have even moved some of the admins to the hidden-admin usergroup instead of removing their powers.
This is all speculative, of course.
