That's obviously true, although it also depends on how his body can handle the effects.
The less your body can handle it, the easier you get drunk.
The more your body can handle it, the harder it is to get drunk.

For some reason, my language arts teacher (which is many years ago ) told us NEVER to use the word "unique", or "special". She says that's too general a word, but...don't really know.

Most beer's alcohol percentages are around 5% I believe. And well, guess because SO MANY clan members (specially lordtiger) has said SO MUCH stuff about the topic that, well, I don't know what to say... So, I'll go to the topic of "Peer Pressure". You guys can still talk about alcohol and smoke if you want, but I'll talk about something else.
Even though many people know that Peer Pressure could be negative, and most people CAN differ when it is negative, they still give in. But well, being an Asian around 99% of other continent people, I do sometimes feel weird and awkward and wish I could change into a Spanish or an American. But well, I'm still the person who I am and don't plan on changing soon. I would wish that the people in the community would realize that there are ways to get around Peer Pressure which can help reduce the negative effects of it. Though I also believe that the other major cause of Peer Pressure is "popularity" (specially with girls). Well, I guess I can't blame them though. Who doesn't want to be alone or left out in a community? And peer pressure of alcohol and smoking is reducing and it's not as pressuring as before. Now, if you don't smoke or drink, there won't be much effect on your social life.

All the above is my own personal point of view and COULD be wrong. I would be glad to get some corrections or any additions.

Well, peer pressure is not necessarily an issue when you don't have friends ( like me )

I'm kidding of course, but I think all people that I know and have some sort of positive relationship with fall under one of 3 categories:

Aquaintances. These are people that I've recently met or have the least amount in common with. I'm friendly to them, but that's about it. I don't really acknowledge their opinion, and don't press myself to do what they suggest I should do. Most of them aren't at my level of thinking, so I tend not to talk to them about the things that interest me (LT knows what I mean). Examples of acquaintances would be most kids at school, teachers and kids in my neighborhood.

Friends. These are people that I tend to trust more as peers. I know that most of the time what they say makes sense, and when they tell me to do something, it's usually in my best interest to do what they ask. Some of them are smarter than I am, but they're more geared towards math and sciences, while I'm usually known as the historical and philosophical "powerhouse" within my group. My friends include the kids I have all my classes, with, who are in the top 10-20 kids in the class.

Confidants. I only have 3 confidants at a time. No more, no less. My confidants don't know each other, just for the sake of them not being able to converse about my secrets. Two of them are adults: my father and the chief of police (who I worked with over the summer, and is a vet of the Delta squad in the United States Army during the invasion of Panama, and who shares many pf my views on the goverment and politics). The last confidant of mine is my best friend at school, who is usually who I complain to whenever something shitty happens to me.

Anyways, I only take some advice from friends, and filter it through the advice I take fom my confidants. This way, I only receive positive peer pressure all the time. I surround myself with people who don't do drugs or drink, because those are the people that I can't stand and tend to bash at school. Call me a jerk if you wish, but I feel that doing this is the only way they can realize that they're doing something wrong.
Hmm. Peer pressure? Only happened to me when I was kinda young. I got over peer pressure when I started to find my true self and when I attained the body who can win against any average man (also known as puberty). xD

I'm a very cheerful person and I'm very energetic in real life. Living in Asia has it's ups and downs, ups; 98% can understand high average level of sarcasm, downs; studying hard means, wake up eat study eat study eat study study sleep. So you can't call "pulling an all nighter" studying hard this would mean you are cramming. Going back to the subject, I'm a cheerful person who likes to put people down in a somewhat amusing way for me and for other people, just like a bar comedian. I don't listen to peoples' opinion about me. They don't like me then deal with it, they're not changing me anytime forever. So the word "peer pressure" for me is just like another word.

For the people suffering from "peer pressure" and doesn't have the balls to not give a fuck. Grow up. Man up.

If you're wondering if I have friends despite of me being very very blunt, I do have friends, in fact; they are the top 3 of our class, while I'm at the bottom since I study what I want so I'm destined to fail some subject.

I'm just new at these "opinions" thread xD so excuse me if you find it kinda low.

Alright well

A: I have tried to quit on more then one occasion

B: Just because one way worked for someone ,doesnt mean it will play out the same for another.

C: As an "Actual" smoker , I already know all that you have stated so when it comes from some one who doesnt smoke it sounds alittle insulting , almost as if your giving me a lecture . Try not to be so " know it all " in the future .

D: stop watching so many movies about highschool parties and beleiving in the sterotypical assumption in regards to alcohol .
I'm going to respond to your points, and drop it, because apparently you are not mature enough to do so. First, I'd like to start off with an introduction.

First of all, all I've stated thus far was my opinion. The only reason why I've turned ad hominem on you personally (see the first response of my previous post) was because you did in your very first response (see middle of your first response to me). I've tried to show nothing but respect for you as a human, but the only reason why I'm being an acrimonius bastard is because you have not extended any respect to me nor my views. Your personal "experience" means nothing in a logical debate, anything you say related to it is heresay. Facts are what matters in a debate such as this, and I have seen nothing of the sort in your posts.

A: Well congratulations, you must feel so special. How about the several hundred-thousand that have tried to quit and succeeded? People have quit on their first try, so again, my point still stands: having willpower is the only way to quit. Obviously, if you are still smoking after several attempts, you don't have enough willpower, or you would have quit long before this point.

B: I never said it would work for everyone, but I am suggesting that you try. Or would you like to keep smoking? If you haven't tried it, how do you know that it will not work for everyone? Do you think that everyone is able to come up with a plan like that, or do you think that everyone just stops completely at once? If you think the latter, then of course no one will be able to quit, because they need their fix. I suggest that you try it before you criticize it, because if you succeed, then you have no one else to thank but me.

C: As opposed to a "fake" smoker? Why is it in quotes? Why is it capitalized? God damnit, my grammar OCD is kicking in again, apologies. You should know what I'm talking about, it's not rocket science, and you should be insulted, because I feel insulted when I'm called judgemental or narrow-minded, if you feel oh so offended, then maybe you should try not to treat people the same way, eh? Also, I'm not a know-it-all, but I like to back up arguments with facts, instead of "look at me, I'm suffering, don't blame me, blame the drug". That crap is absolutely bogus, it's no one's fault that you are addicted to smoking but yourself, not your parents, not your friends, not the drug companies, just you. Also, I can use your point B against you here, just because it's so difficult for you to quit doesn't mean that it's impossible for others to quit. Try not to lump all smokers into a group of helpless infantile addicts.

D: In case you haven't noticed, people die from smoking and drinking every day. Cancer of the brain, heart, liver, lungs, throat, drunk driving incidents, internal bleeding, heart attack, stroke, drowning in vomit, etc. This isn't in movies, this is happening down the street from me. Don't you dare tell me that I have no knowledge of the world today. How dare you consider me an ignorant member of society, when I'm making the right choices to improve the quality of my life and those around me, while you and your drug buddies are degrading yours day in and day out.
Omg. No offence, but Silent, stop being a "know it all".

Look, it's your fault for calling people who drinks alcohol "Cowards" and "idiots". Doesn't that make you narrow minded?

And you think quitting smoking is THAT fucking easy? "You don't have enough will power" And shit like that? That's fucking bullshit for a guy who has been smoking for 14 years. You think you quitting caffeine is that hard? Fuck that, my Dad will choose a cigarette over coffee anytime.

Caffeine can benefit you in some ways while smoking does not in anyway but still quitting smoking is way harder. Haven't you ever thought about it? Why would a person continue smoking if it just kills them slowly and they know it? How HOOKED are they? How much an idiot would I make myself look if I act superior because I didn't smoke in the first place? Don't act as if you have already quit smoking.

You're not mature enough to continue your argument, Silent.

Sorry for being real blunt. I just can't stand how you're dealing with this argument. Normally I'd side with the "anti-smoking" side. But this is just wrong.

It makes me opinionated. Making them victims of some nefarious faulty characteristic is also narrowminded, but I don't seem to be throwing that around, am I?

Again, I never said it was easy, I said it needed will power. If you don't have will power, you won't quit, pure and simple. Will power =/= easy, will power only makes it possible to quit, not easy to quit.

Any addiction, no matter how ridiculous it sounds, like caffiene or pornography, takes will power to quit. It's called an addiction for a reason. Being able to will yourself through a detox gets you through an addiction, and a detox is not the easiest thing in the world to do, but will power makes it possible. If you don't have will power, you will not break the addiction. You have to want to break it, you have to see yourself off of the addiction and want to be in that scenario; you need will power.

I didn't want to get into this topic, but you've set the fuse. I hate how people make saints out of those who are recovering from drugs and alcohol. It sickens me to the point of vomiting. These are the people who cracked under pressure to smoke and drink and weren't able to say "Hey, this is bad for me, maybe I should stop", and we want to acknowledge them as heroes of society? These are the people who have been told time and time again by their parents, their friends, their teachers and counselors, that this stuff is bad and it ruins your life, yet they do it anyway, and we want to put them on a pedestal and use them as a role model?

What about the people who are on the straight and narrow? Where's our charity groups? Where's our TV shows? When do the people who stayed away from drugs and alcohol get to go on guest-speaking tours and tell about how bad those things are? When do we get our own advertisements telling potential druggies not to get hooked? How are we making heroes of the people who, before they quit, we thought of as villains?

And now you're talking about heroes? Dude we're talking about respect here. >.> How far can your brain stray away? RESPECT bro, RESPECT. You don't have the right to call them idiots or whatsoever because they made the wrong decision of smoking and drinking. We all make bad decisions. Learn your place.

When did you ever say in your response that this was about respect? Show me in your post where it said that this was about respect. I dare you.

I can call them idiots when it means that they have committed themselves to a life of constant health degradation. Willingly, I might add, because I have heard of no one who was forced to take drugs or drink alcohol. Just like you might call someone who jaywalks across a congested highway multiple times a day an idiot, because they put their lives in danger whenever they do it, I call a person who gets smashed several times a week an idiot for the same reason.

I have made stupid decisions, yes, but never of that caliber that I would consider myself an idiot. Not doing my homework would be a bad decision, but I wouldn't call myself an idiot, and probably no one would. I may be lazy, but not an idiot.

Again, showing nothing but respect here, I have called no one narrow-minded, no one a "know it all", no one judgemental. Who's mature now?
