Through Trakata was long lost to the Old Republic, and not used by either side very much for different reasons, it certainly is practical and WILL throw the opponent off, for the very same reason: it isn't used. Makashi also depends on whether your opponent is Sith or Jedi. Sith tend to use Ataru and Djem So, which were mainly created to counteract Soresu. Jedi, on the other hand, prefer Makashi, which is more defense driven, but also slightly offensive. and Shii Cho, which is entirely based upon achieving sun djem.

I'm with De4th on the need so use the characteristics of a lightsaber in any combat involving it. Something I'd question would be the forces involved in striking a lightsaber with another during combat given how light either should really be.

I can take care of my opinions on God and Aliens pretty easily:

God - I don't disagree with any interpretations of a being no one has really interacted directly with. I make the additional assertion that God may be a 4th or 5th dimensional being as that would subscribe all of the powers usually associated with the being as well as a degree of being impossible to observe.

Aliens - We're not worth bothering with. Weapons aside we have an extremely difficult time leaving the confines of our planet. So we're not a danger whatsoever. Being studied wouldn't be unlikely for the same reason we study insects. Humanity as a whole is extremely young and we've achieved an astoundingly limited number of singularities. Recording and sharing information related singularities (Speaking, Reading, Writing, Distance communication) have mostly occurred, population manipulation (cloning), terraforming, inter-planetary or inter-galactic travel (breaking limits of resources), parsing of information quickly and coming to conclusions (occurring through big-data, eventually assisted by strong AI).

Basically we suck. Both due to ethical and intellectual limitations (also straight up lacking time).

In terms of hilt style, I would either prefer tonfa or curved-hilt. I have practiced irl with all hilt styles, and those are my preference. If I were forced to use a standard style hilt, I would like to have two sabers, one held with the blade pointing backwards, the other forwards, like so:

Timee: I found my first time to be more of an emotional experience.
