The right cheek got pushed out as if it was a mask because of that shadow.
Also the whole face looks more like a mask - the mapping of the face is odd, in my opinion. Try stretching the face down a bit.

I feel ya, spent my whole 5 hour driving course staring at the instructors face
for shading tips.





UPDATE: jacked a burlap texture, shaded more, changed right hoop to plug, detailed neck(needs more mapping adjustments)
probs gonna do another round of re-highlighting (and probs shadowing) to get that greasy indian feel. looks like i need more on forehead, still need to remake(or attempt to) the eyes. going to drop shadow turban better
rest should be a cakewalk. just need to add back of head

My suggestion would be to completely redo the chin/jawline. You've drawn a face on the face. Its facing front when face on but rotated to side leaves it looking sectioned out. Even in your gif you include the fact that it needs more shading.. look at the added lines in there.
Remember to shade in the neck, even if its just to darken it - along with a slight highlight for the occipital bone. Maybe just research up some anatomy to figure out how to turn a skull into a sphere.

Yeah, people have the nasty habit of putting necks on head textures. The tori's head is, well, just the head.

Otherwise I'm loving it. The cheekbones are wierdly flat and spread out though.
