[Art] black/white to color improvements
alright so the rumor is it is way better in all shapes and sizes to create a black/white first in order to focus on values then to color over it with overlays and all those cool things. so... teach and preach :3

this is just a random junky head for my learning purposes. tell me whats wrong with shadows and highlights and whatever else i should be looking for before the color begins.
nice head but i think you should make the edges sharper.
it looks a bit blurry to me.
but it has kinda good mapping and i like that idea of the head

give jusmi or monobi a shout.
theyr pretty good with this "painting by values" thing, and can explain themselves well.
never really got the jist of it myself.

Actually I'm teaching both jusmi and chillz to colour from greyscale value.
I'd say the proportioning is wonderful but it just needs refining - smudgy edges that I know you refine once the basic concepts are down.
For the purpose of this exercise I suggest adding in some clear sectioning between plates to add multicolour into this, two-tone is best thanks to force/relax. How smooth do you want the metal to look?
