Are you accidentally loading a mod somehow? Try typing "/set mod default.tbm" in free mode, and then "/reset" if nothing changes. Does that work?

Try changing "engageplayerpos" to 0 in game rules. Or try writing "classic" in place of the mod and reset the game by /rt.
