I have to agree with Locus here. Even though the Council has the final say on accepting applicants, it's good to hear everyone's opinion and give us a fuller picture to make decisions from.

Chab's a nice dude. I'll say yes as well.

Still undecided on Noel. I haven't been on IRC much lately, so I'll try and catch him and make a decision quickly.
All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That’'s how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day.
How about: we assume normal members are ok with applicants unless they say otherwise. If they particularly dislike an applicant it would be useful for us to know so is probably ok to post here. People just saying "Yeah I agree with what every other fucking member has already said at least 5 times for exactly the same reasons." really doesn't help.

It does. It's simple and understandable. If we all don't mind having someone as part of the clan, why say so? Regardless, members should take time and agree with everyone, or dislike the applicant. It helps us know who to look out for. We have standards and we all know if an applicant has met them. No problems in my opinion or enough reason to change. The way we currently do this works. We want active, mature, friendly members, etc. It's nice we reach a common consensus. We should be able to see eachother a views and be ok with them.
If people want something to do with there spare time I could point them towards a few youtube channels they might enjoy. This is not the place to kill time by repeating each other. Can't we just have at least one "if no comment then assume x' option just to clear up space? Since generally agreeing with what has already been said seems both the most common and neutral opinion people post on this thread I figured we should make that=x. No? Maybe you guys just like each other a lot more than I do. It just feels like we are only allowing it to make it feel more like a true democracy when it is clearly not even close. It gives the wrong impression and could lead to applicants feeling more confident than they actually should be (if ordinary members all say "Yarp" and a couple council members say "Narp" then it will look like the vast majority of the votes are in their favour when actually they are going to get rejected).

This isn't about killing time. This is about the members of the clan voicing their opinions on who gets in and who doesn't. Even if it doesn't mean anything to you as a member of the council, it may mean something to other council members. For example, if a council member sees that all of the other members want this person in the clan, they might reconsider if they originally had a bad image of that person.

I disagree with this because most comments aren't just a blanket yes or no. Most opinions aren't as black and white as that. People have different things to comment on and different things to ask people to improve on, so a blanket yes or no doesn't always work.

I do, however, kind of agree with this. I think once the council gives their say on things we should have a more explicit yes or no statement to each of the applicants. Something like a list of each council member and what they voted, just to finalize things. To avoid the confusion that is definitely there.

Bolded are your statements.

No. It's not a true democracy. But it is a representative democracy. The common man voices his opinion, which the representative takes into account when he makes his decision. Yes, it makes the thread look cleaner when only "authorized" people post in it, but it doesn't actually help the decision making process.

Perhaps we could have all of the council members put their posts in a different colour than everyone else, so it makes it easier to scroll through and see who is saying what.

EDIT: I also like Locus' votecount suggestion as well.

I think you are thinking too hard zelda. We aren't a democracy. We are a group of people that try understanding everyone. I think the big part about accepting a member into the clan is how well he/she does while they are here. Not like we can't do things if they are bad. What I am trying to say is, all members have a say and if everyone wants to repeat things and don't have anything against the one who is applying, it's all good.

No need to change something no one has problems with. Zelda, if you have a problem with this system that is effecting your capability of functioning with us, please let me know. I think everything is golden. Are we recruiting to hastily? I don't see the problem with what you are describing at all.
All members can give their opinion about applicants, including the ones who are even trials. We are a family, everyone is important here. Let's not ruin the fun environment. The more votes we have, the more coherent will be the decision we make.

Zelda, I understand your opinion, don't refrain yourself from letting us know what do you think <3

By the way, I think Locus should be added as a council member in my place. He deserves it.

Regarding the applicants, if no one have a reason to reject them, which I think you won't have, we will add them soon. Trial for all sounds good.
