For many bands, a live performance captures the energy that a studio performance cannot. For instance, Cheap Trick was amazing live but only good in the studio.

In addition to the point above, note that some people hold music in a sort of competitive regard, and being able to play impressive music live is to them a display of skill.

metal for most people (not emo's) is a kind of music that cuts you off from the stress. going to a concert is a great way to just forget about school/work.
meh, it's nothing really special, it's a genre, you like some kind of genres and we like these kind of genres.
i listen to other stuff to, but metal is the big one because i love drumming and i love listening to bands with great drummers that i can play to, like slipknot, in flames and such.
and then there's the fag <--hehehe, that goes around talking trash about other genres thinking they're ultra cool people with 30" penises just because they listen to metal, and those people are just jerks. i hate those guys, dissing other genres because they ain't "heavy" is just gay.
so, if you don't understand metal, then it's fine. we don't understand you either ;)
