Honestly, 100k should really be the limit on 1 head. It used to be more like 20k for a head a few months ago.
And i also remember RA's set req for 200k. Scoff at the amount now, but when I tried, it was an astronomical prize!
so...that head, now, woulda bought an epic set a few months ago...

I think the promo texture item bundles are helping to drive up prices though. Before, most of the money would go towards the item itself.
Now, since they can be so cheaply obtained through a promo, that money is going towards the image that they will upload.
Then MORE people have textures, so more requests are out. The supply hasn't really changed much. It's really been around the same people. A few more people have started texturing but some have also quit.
Meanwhile, the demand has probably tripled. Supply and demand, driving up prices.
Similar to when ps3's came out, they were sold on ebay for $700-800, far above their retail price.

and the promo bundle would make it be more like 200k worth?

Also, the jacked up promo item prices aren't helping too much either I think...Suppose the average gradient pair is 60k now, instead of 20k a few months ago. That's just more reason for someone to get textures.

There are some professional artists now though. I know nimkasi is. Vermine has some really nice heads too. I haven't seen his work much, just once, so I'm not sure if he is a professional artist or not, but he's good nonetheless.

Texturing used to be more like a hobby, but now, with these higher prices, a dedicated texturer, drawing all day, can really get some serious money from it!
If you can make 500k a set, then 2 sets a day would get you around $100 worth, if you manage to sell it all.
