Tutorial for Clan Vid Makers #1 - Music and Sync
So you want to choose a music for the vid you make?

Be careful. The song might be epic, but not fitting the video. You need to think well. There are some categories to remember, as like:
  • Syncability
  • Topic
  • Style
  • Licenses

Let's start with the most important point. Syncability.
What does that mean? I f you make a video, you need to think about how the music fits it. Listen to it. Where are the beats? Where are points where you can have a strong hit in the video? Where can you use a riff for a running passage? Where is it too calm to fit the fight?

Here's an example for a good syncable song:
It's total shit for the video (German, Not the right sound, wrong text-topic), but you can sync it.

At 0:22, you hear a "yeah". Why not Have someone posing there? Or having finished an awesome Skating replay?

Also, look at the beat. 4/4, I think. That means at every fourth beat, there is a stronger accent. Use that, that means, slow down some parts, speed up some, repeat some, and let it feat the beat. This is really important for the video to be awesome. A very fast song is as bad as a very slow one.

Ok, the topic. You see blood, violence, and... the song is about being happy?

Ignore the introduction. Thanks to destiny for showing me that.
Choose well, and a song without lyrics is safer than others.

Then, the Style. What is toribash? Think about that. You need something that fits it. Death Metal? Maybe. Techno? Maybe. Pop? Could be hard. Country? Fuck no!

Imagine what could be the theme of toribash! And ignore what you personally like!

Licenses, the most shitty point. You saw the Youtube videos where the audio was removed? Copyright and shit? It's easy to avoid, Take unknown Artists, who publish their songs under the Creative Commons License. Everyone is allowed to use it for creative work, as long it is free and has the same license.
Where to find music like that? There are some options. The easiest, Newgrounds. Search a bit, but I warn you. 17 of 20 Songs are shit. 1 Is good. And 1 is very good. 1 Could be epic.
Other possibilites would be myspace and facebook. But there, the license isn't clear.

I hope you enjoyed reading. There will be more.
