I suppose it's fair to say intelligent life might evolve or might've evolved sometime or somewhere. But we don't know how likely it is for intelligent life to develop.
Except that there are trillions of stars and trillions of planets and it is absurd to think that out of all those there is not a single planet that has any sort of life.
There is every reason to assume there is life.
